Mailday 19 – Half way through 2024!

Another quarter of 2024 has come and gone. Now I am in the middle of my summer vacation, and just trying to relax with my family. And look at cards. The spring has been somewhat insane workwise, so I have not been playing or tinkering nearly as much with Magic as I had hoped for.

On the buying front, things has also been a little quit – at least quantitavely. Actually I have only bought two new Old School cards. But what two!

Still with the cube

That Vintage cube is not going to update and refresh itself that is for sure. Neither is it going to add the last cards by itself, so I have to acquire some new (really new and some very strange!) cards for it once in a while, while getting no closer to ever getting the cards on my list for 2024. But Vintage Cube is just really worth it. So much fun! Probably the best format in the game. I have said it before, but if you have any interest in this format, please subscribe to my friend Andreas’ YouTube Account ecbaronenMTG.

For my cube, it was time to finally add some very central cards – and some outliers…

Great, great pile of very different very great (for the most part – some just rather fun) cards. I still need around 12 central cards for the cube, but as it is, it is very much ready to battle!

But you did not come for that!

Nope. Old School it is. The cards above hit some spots for me. The sheer power level. The synergies and combos. The fun of cards like Clown Car and a card with a Bowtie on it.

But. I also got some really cool cards. I finished at playset I have been dreaming of for years:

Yes! Finally they are in. They look so great in real life. Not so much on the picture above. But I really, really like these pieces of cardboard. For some reason they have been a bit of a whale for me. Now I am able to assemble what is for me the complete holy trinity:

I enjoy playing these cards – especially together when possible. They really are the Holy Trinity for me.

So now I just need a set of Beta Winter Orbs and Alpha Icy Manipulators (the big writing, you know)…

Have a great summer!
